Learnerships

In South Africa, we offer learnerships to employees interested in a full-time study of the mining business as well as technical and vocational skills training at our expense to community members through educational programs and instruction offered at the Sibanye-Stillwater Academy, a large in-house campus located on the West Rand. We believe in skills-based education and are proud to mentor each class of learners. Our work-based program is designed to teach learners skills and expose them to workplace experiences that will allow them to advance in their careers while also working to complete their educational qualification.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have a Grade 9 or equivalent NQF Level 1 Educational Certificate, with Mathematics and English Communication, in order to be accepted onto the Rock Breaker Learnership
  • Applicants must be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye-Stillwater Occupational Health Care Centre
  • Pre-screening and psychometric evaluation may form part of the selection process. All applicants will be subject to clearance screening by the South African Police Services as required by the National Explosives Act. Short listed candidates will be requested to attend a panel interview. Applicants who receive no response to their applications within 14 days after the closing date, may consider their application for the Learnership to be unsuccessful. Sibanye-Stillwater is committed to the achievement and maintenance of diversity and equity in employment
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have more than six months previous mining experience in the production environment of a mine
