Special Task Force Vacancies Available

The South African Police Service (SAPS) Special Task Force (STF) is launching a recruitment drive to address the high attrition rate in the Special Task Force: Division of Visible Policing and Operations. Qualified individuals with the required experience and training are invited to apply.

Targeted Recruitment

This recruitment is aimed exclusively at individuals with existing STF or equivalent military training, such as South African Special Forces (ONLY SF).

Rank and Employment Offers

  • Position: STF Operators/Members at the rank of Warrant Officer.
  • Higher Ranks: Candidates previously holding the rank of Captain or above may be offered equivalent ranks, depending on available positions.
  • Contract: Successful candidates will enter into a five-year contract with the SAPS.

Requirements

  • Driver’s License: Valid.
  • Firearm Competency: Required.
  • Integrity Management: Compliance with National Instruction 18 of 2019.
  • Fitness and Shooting Evaluation: Must pass.
  • Training: Completion of refresher or conversion courses.
  • Suitability: Confirmation of suitability for appointment.

Application Process

Interested candidates must submit a written expression of interest by 31 July 2024. Candidates will receive a written salary offer for consideration and acceptance. Formal appointment will only occur upon issuance of an official appointment letter.

Documentation for Vetting Process

Candidates offered employment must undergo a vetting process and provide:

  • Updated CV
  • Acceptance certificate of the post/appointment and salary offer
  • Certificate of unauthorized disclosure of information
  • Code of Conduct
  • WP1002 form
  • Nomination of beneficiaries (Death Grant)
  • Proof of registration with the South African Revenue Service (SARS)
  • Fingerprints and AFIS report from LCRC
  • Certificate from their Commander confirming no pending or past criminal/departmental cases at the time of resignation
  • Confirmation of acceptance of duty

Employment Start Date

Appointed candidates are expected to start working with SAPS within two months of receiving the employment offer.

Compensation

Qualified employees are eligible for a scarce skills allowance.
