Job Purpose:
The Department of Social Development, Western Cape Government is seeking fifteen (15) qualified and competent Education Officers to provide holistic educational services at Child and Youth Care Centres.
Minimum Requirements:
- Appropriate 3-year post-school qualification
- Registration with SACE as a professional educator
- Minimum of 1-year experience as an Educationalist/Educator
- Valid (Code B or higher) driving license
Note: Individuals with disabilities that restrict driving abilities but have reasonable access to transport may also apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement educational programs at secure child and youth care facilities as per curriculum requirements and departmental legislation.
- Enforce facility policies and procedures to ensure safe care, custody, and development of residents.
- Perform administrative duties and engage in continuous professional development.
- Stay updated with new developments in social work and social welfare fields.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, public service procedures, labour relations, financial management, and project management.
- Skills in problem-solving, budgeting, planning, facilitation, influencing, and interpersonal relations.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency in planning, organizing, learning, researching, networking, adapting, and responding to change.
- Commitment to principles and values, and strong analytical abilities.
Remuneration:
- Annual Salary: R 308,154 (Salary level 7)
- Service benefits or obligations (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.) funded/co-funded as per applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
