Job DescriptionCoca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for a Group Lead: Supply Chain (SC) Development and Capability. This is a senior level resource in the Supply Chain Excellence department, and they lead efforts to support Supply Chain Capability Development in order to achieve the attainment of high performance within CCBA by ensuring aligned and effective deployment of strategies to CCBA markets.The Group Lead: SC Development and Capability plays a leading role in building high performance capability for the CCBA Group by deploying the Supply Chain Way of Working through their expert and specialized knowledge, supported by a team of specialists. They provide direction as well as in country support and capability building for all aspects related to the logistics and manufacturing functions, strategy, policies and frameworks.The successful applicant will report into the Group Head: Supply Chain Excellence.The Group Lead: SC Development and Capability is responsible for the alignment of all SC Development & Capability strategies and training to build the capabilities required to deploy plans associated with the strategy. They support countries in executing their capability plans and their SC Ways progression plans, in collaboration with the CoE. They accelerate capability development and the pace of innovation by activating a Learning culture within SC through the Centre of Excellence (CoE) and Communities of Practice (CoP) within Supply Chain in CCBA.This role provides guidance to country operational teams on all aspects related to building capability and technical skills development. Also, in collaboration with the SC CoE’s ensures that the capability needed to successfully deploy the strategy is developed. They collaborate with SC CoE’s and CoP’s across CCBA and consult with the Group Lead: Manufacturing Optimization and Group Lead: Logistics Optimization to ensure horizontal and vertical alignment of strategies. They consult with the greater CCBA and KO counterparts to align and share ways of working and best practises.This role ensures consistency, uniformity, and integrity in the CCBA Supply Chain functions throughout the organisation, through the identification, standardization, and deployment of best practices across countries in the manufacturing and logistics functions, in collaboration with relevant CoE’s. They work closely with HR L&D, the CoE’s and SC functional Leads to develop Manufacturing and Logistics curricula, learning material and training schedules.The applicant may reside in any of the CCBA footprint of countries: South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia & Zambia.
Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesContinuously researching and learning about the current global thinking on Supply Chain Capability Development in general and in the bottling industry specifically.Defining the long-range plan focus areas for the supply chain function in line with the Supply Chain strategy.Owning the consolidation of group reports, while ensuring that poor performance is addressed through a high degree of accountability management.Developing and supporting the entrenchment of a culture of step-change performance and continuous improvement.Developing and maintaining training standards and a framework of accreditation, aligned to global best practice in collaboration with the Group Lead: Manufacturing Optimization and Group Lead: Logistics Optimization.Performing an enterprise-wide loss and waste analysis, in collaboration with the Growth team and other functions, to drive the CCBA SC strategy.Take accountability for the development and effective deployment of all group Supply Chain development and capacity building strategies by leveraging their team of experts.Ensuring the vertical and horizontal alignment of relevant Supply Chain strategies with the overall SC strategy and CCBA’s game plan, in collaboration with the COE and the Head of SC Excellence.Continuously review the effectiveness of policies, strategies, and frameworks on improving systems’ capability as measured using the Competence Acquisition Program (CAP) and SC Ways progression.Providing relevant annual budget guidelines to drive a step-change in capability and improvement in performance and productivity.Ensuring that all relevant leaders are trained on CCBA Supply Chain strategies, policies, and work practices.Anticipate future capabilities needed to achieve the CCBA Strategies and drive the development of such technical skills, in collaboration with the COE and the SC Excellence Head.Managing and facilitating the deployment of SC Ways and the SCMAT score card in all new acquisition and merger plants, including the development of and execution of the 100-day plan for these sites.Coaching, mentoring and guiding operational teams on the implementation of the Supply chain Way and the adherence to its principles.Facilitating the 3-year operational excellence masterplan by each market and ensure support from CoE in effectively executing it.Anticipate new Work Practice needs, develop, and deploy accordingly in collaboration with the CoE and the Manufacturing Optimization and Logistics Optimization teams.Facilitating benchmarking and ensure support is provided for FI initiatives flowing from benchmarking.Ensuring the development, codification and archival of best practices and the establishment of best practice sites (virtual model sites).Leading the mandatory adoption of best practices at all relevant sites.Providing CoE with guidance on focus areas/countries, in collaboration with the country management teams and the Head of SC Excellence.Share benchmarking data and support the setting of internal targets to improve CCBA’s performance to reach and exceed global benchmarks.Ensuring the acceleration of capability building in Manufacturing and Logistics to enable step-change performance improvement.Facilitating the management of CAP and ensuring high quality through governance processes.Closing capability gaps by developing and deploying relevant training.Managing strategic relationships with OEM’s and OCMs (Original Component Manufacturer) for training on operating and maintaining CCBA technology.
Skills, Experience & EducationQualifications:The minimum qualification required for this job is a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial), Science, or technical field (Food science, Food Technology, Supply Chain, Logistics, Distribution, General Science, etc). Industrial Engineering Qualification will be an added advantage.A Master’s degree will be an added advantageExperience:10+ years’ experience in operational environments in a variety of SC roles.5+ years’ experience in a Leadership role in a manufacturing plant.Manufacturing or Logistic Management experience is preferred.Should demonstrate deep understanding of the SC Way and other best in class SC operating models based on TPM or WCM or Lean 6 Sigma.Must have detailed understanding of Logistic and Manufacturing Operational Processes and Systems and continuous improvement knowledge.Must have experience in capability development, facilitating, moderating and assessing.
