SANRAL VACANCIES CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER (CPO) – National – Permanent

POSITION OBJECTIVE:SANRAL VACANCIES

The Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) role entails comprehensive oversight of the Procurement Team and all facets of Procurement and Supply Management. Responsibilities include crafting procurement strategy, setting strategic objectives, budget management, process enhancement, ensuring systemic procurement and supply chain enhancements, goal setting, and monitoring key performance indicators. The CPO leads the procurement department of an organization, overseeing acquisitions to ensure they meet organizational needs while optimizing costs and profitability. Additionally, the CPO establishes policies and standard operating procedures guiding acquisitions throughout the organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant degree/qualification (NQF level 8) in fields such as Accounting, Business Science, Commerce, Engineering, or Law.
  • Post-graduate qualification specializing in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional registration with internationally recognized organizations in relevant fields.
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience with a proven track record, including familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Minimum of 5 years executive or senior leadership experience.
  • Experience working with cross-functional units/teams in large enterprises.
  • Experience managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

WORKPLACE COMPETENCIES

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Familiarity with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and relevant sector legislation.
  • Ability to implement governance and compliance procedures.
  • Understanding of performance management policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of public relations and communication best practices.
  • Ability to identify and engage key stakeholders in the public sector and industry.

SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting financial statements.
  • Capacity to enhance service delivery through sector trend analysis.
  • Leadership skills to motivate and influence teams.
  • Clear and concise communication abilities with stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
