Job DescriptionCoca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for a Services and Utilities Specialist. This is a senior level resource in the Supply Chain department, that manages the Mechanical Services and Utilities pertaining to group projects and also provides Technical input and Project assistance to the countries within the Group.The successful candidate will be reporting to the Engineering & Projects Manager.Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) is the largest African Coca-Cola bottler, accounting for 40% of all Coca-Cola volumes on the continent. We are a world class, customer-orientated, socially and environmentally conscious fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company that is driven by engaged, motivated and inspired employees.The role will be responsible for:Managing the successful scoping, design, budgets, timelines, specifications and review of proposed and approved capital projects in line with CCBA strategy and business plans and according to applicable policies, procedures and routines.Liaising with Capital Project Managers and in country Project Managers, Country Management, Suppliers, contractors, and other interested parties (such as TCCC) to ensure the successful commissioning, acceptance and completion of capital projects.Ensuring projects are delivered within Technical design specifications, budgets and agreed time-lines.Developing and maintaining Group Technical Specifications and standards for Production Services and Utilities.Training and development of staff and Country engineering staff during handover of projects.
Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesManages and is responsible and accountable for specific projects within the group related specifically to services and utilities. (i.e. HP compressors, UPS projects, power quality).
Liaise with Capital Project Managers, country project managers and operational teams in order to define equipment scope and requirements.Consults with suppliers of specialised equipment to obtain proposals and costs based on design scope.Engages with OEM suppliers of equipment and technology to identify and select equipment best suited to the business needs.Manages installation and commissioning of specialised equipment as part of project team or alone depending on the nature of the projectFunctions as part of the project team and provides specialised insights and expertise in area of specialisation for mechanical and utilities. Ensures that legal and safety requirements are met and adhered to for area of specialisation.
Provides specialised expertise and support to operational projects and engineering teams in area of specialisation, both for maintenance and smaller projects.Works with TCCC technical teams to ensure that all new investments meet and comply with standards and requirements.Ensures that all applicable engineering standards are shared with countries and that these are adhered to.Interprets and ensures implementation of KO Standards and Requirements.Documents CCBA Standards for Services and Utilities equipment and installations.Builds and maintains relationships (KO, CCBA operational teams, Project Managers, Equipment Suppliers and Consultants).
Maintains technical and engineering standards.Applies standards to designs.Complete and development of project budgets for Mechanical and Utilities. Responsible to development project timelines.
Expediting of Capital equipment.
Responsible for project sign-offs, training and handover on completion of projects.
Guides and manages consultants/suppliers
.Develops solutions for project variations.Responsible to ensure that project is within budget and on time.Provides specialised support to operational Engineering and maintenance teams on small or large projects and upgrades to Services and Utilities equipment.Clarifies Country/Operation requirements when required.Develops project RFP requirements.Develops RFP documentation.Reviews supplier tender bids.Liaises with suppliers to clarify information that may not be clear on the scope of supply.Adjudication of supplier proposal.Makes recommendations.Signs off on proposals and installations.Post-assessment of initial/ agreed project scope. Pre delivery inspection, installation inspection, and review.Post Project Review and Assessment.Determines technical and engineering standards for Production Services and Utilities Equipment and installations.Recommends and works with countries to evaluate and select the best solution for projects. Recommended solution should meet business needs while complying with all applicable standards.Responsible for supplier selection for all major technical components and systems in consultation with country SC and HQ procurement specialists.Responsible for detailed capex estimates for all planned & conceptual projects. This is done after a detailed scope has been developed in consultation with country.Responsible for ensuring that comprehensive supplier contracts are put in place for all major services and utilities for projects.
Skills, Experience & EducationQualifications:The minimum qualification is a 3 or 4 year Mechanical Engineering qualification.Financial qualification and completed Project Management course and completed courses in piping design codes advantageous.Completed Government Certificate of Competency would be advantageous.
Experience:Minimum 5 years in an engineering specialist role in a FMCG Company.                           Minimum 5 years’ experience in the maintenance of plant and machinery.Minimum 5 years project management experience as project manager/engineer.Ability to demonstrate the successful completion and implementation of projects.
