Position Purpose:
The main purpose of this role is to take ownership of Civil Engineering site works in the Western Cape Region and advise
construction projects; this role will be supporting the Technical Manager: Civil role which will be responsible for providing the
Regional Facilities Manager with engineering solutions, ensuring quality of workmanship, completing all tasks assigned,
working alongside other engineering discipline and technical in planning, design, development, evaluation stages of projects.

Support Transnet Property with business planning, formulating relevant concepts with early options identified in line with the
Transnet Property strategy.
Identify applicable resources (people, time) required for project execution.
Where required, facilitate the appointment of external service providers to follow the standard Transnet Property procure to
pay process.
Complete the appropriate risk-assessment (quantitative / qualitative) for projects and technical maintenance work.
Promote compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities
Prepare engineering calculations
Prepare technical specifications based on input received from other disciplines
Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertise
Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates
Prepare and/or review project standard specifications and design criteria
Manage small- and large-scale capital and maintenance projects
Lead in defining project scope and assist in preparing proposals
Assist in the compilation and delivery of monthly engineering status reports.
Managing Construction personnel and project delivery
Responsible for the technical output and physical repair works
Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
Form part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team
Daily Site Supervision and Quality Control of civil engineering infrastructure
Daily reporting to the Project Manager
Updating of project As-Build Documentation
Updating of quality control documentation
Daily Liaison with contractors
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum National Diploma in Civil Engineering
Minimum three (3) years of verifiable experience in the supervision of civil engineering infrastructure, and on-site quality
control
Candidates with quality control experience in property, concrete structures, water pipelines and roads will have a preference
Civil 3D experience required and/or other associated suit of software eg. Revit/BIM structural or civil
Valid Driver’s licence.

Formulate and manage the scope of service providers per project.

Perform the entire project management function according to profession specific rules and regulations.
Monitor assets condition on a daily basis.
Determine maintenance requirements in accordance with business plan
