Pick n Pay is hiring experienced Blockmen for our Butcheries at various locations in South Africa If you have at least 1 year of Blockman experience preferably in a retail environment we encourage you to apply. Your skills in meat preparation, cutting carcasses, deboning, and expertise in manufacturing mince, sausage, and boerewors will be highly valued. Knowledge of meat aging techniques is an advantage. Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
As a Blockman at Pick n Pay, you will operate all Butchery Equipment, including the Bandsaw, and promptly report any defective equipment to the Butchery Manager. Your role involves controlling merchandising and promoting stock according to standards as well as preparing and breaking various meat carcasses to specifications.
To excel in this role, you need a minimum of 1 year of Blockman experience and the physical ability to lift carcasses and containers of meat. Show your skills in cutting. manufacturing and producing various meat products, such as loin chops and roasts.
Your proficiency in deboning all cuts of meat and manufacturing mince, sausage, and boerewors will be essential to prevent wastage and maintain the cold chain. Additionally maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene in the butchery related equipment and utensils.
Excellent communication skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to complete tasks accurately are vital in this role. Show your passion for the product and your sense of urgency to provide top-notch services to our customers.
