General Worker: Rogueing – Full-Time Position in Delmas | McCain Foods (S Africa)

Purpose of the Job for McCain Foods
The main objective of this job is to conduct daily walks through a potato field for approximately 8 weeks. During these walks, your task will be to identify and remove unhealthy and mixed plants, as well as weeds. You will be responsible for removing the unhealthy plants and their tubers and disposing of them at the end of the field. Additionally, during harvesting and planting, you will assist at the seed store with tasks such as receiving, grading, bagging, and general work.
Key Performance Areas:
To excel in this role, you will need to focus on the following key areas:
Field Walks: Walk through the field and remove sick plants along with their tubers.
Feedback: Provide feedback on the plants removed during the field walks.
Seed Stores: During the off-season, assist with bagging and grading in the Seed Stores.
General Work: Be ready to assist with general tasks as needed.
Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 or Equivalent
- Experience working with potato seed
- Proficient in reading and writing
- Good communication skills
- Strong team-player mentality
- Ability to walk long distances
- Visual ability to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy plants
