Introduction

Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Shaftman Grade 1 to be placed in Venetia Mine,near Limpopo. The successful candidate will report to the Lead Shaftman 2. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.

Job description

Shaftman Grade 1 Candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

· Engineering installations are constructed according to agreed standards, procedures and specifications

· Safe operation of the stage.

· Conduct all assigned work in a satisfactory and competent manner.

· Ensuring the safety of the employees under his/her control.

· Complying with the Health and Safety policy and practices of the company.

Minimum requirements

Possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

· Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent

· Valid Onsetters certificate

· Drill Rig Operator Certificate of Competency

· Competency A, B and AB

· Sound co-ordination skills

· Sound verbal and written communication skills in English

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

· At least 1 year’s mining  experience

· Previous working experience as a Stagehand

· Shaft sinking, equipping and construction experience

· Working in an underground mining environment.

· Knowledge of Shaft Concrete Lining, Bank Operation, Concrete Related Work, Batch Plant, Wet Crete Applications, Civil Construction.

· Sound drilling and blasting knowledge for the specific mining sector

· Knowledge of sound people management practices, including basic conditions of employment.

· Extensive shaft sinking experience (Preferred)
